From Standard Times Press News Paper Commentaries Normally repetitions are done for the purpose of emphasis and to send correct messages to the recipients. This happens in the case of positive repetition either in a learning atmosphere or in a different setting. It becomes contrary based on the principles of learning when negative repetitions are done. This is because negativity is not an achiever of positive results, but a destroyer of good things.
In yesterday’s lead story of the Standard Times publication, the negative behaviour perpetuated by Mr. Arthur Yaskey is very typical with unprogressiveness, but this is what Arthur Yaskey has been surviving on for the past years in the insurance industry. Perhaps, his apologists may describe him as an upright man with proven credibility without examining his past and how he ascended to the current position he is currently enjoying. Apart from his immoral behaviour in office with female workers which is not the focus of this piece, Mr. Arthur Yaskey has destroyed homes and families to which he is very delightful about.
It was during the rule of the National Provisional Ruling Council (NPRC) that the name of Arthur Yaskey came out into prominence. This is way back in 1992, when the NPRC kicked out the late Joseph Saidu Momoh APC government. The role played by Mr. Yaskey during those disappointing years of the APC can hardly be forgotten by fanatics of the party. As Deputy Managing Director of the National Insurance Company (NIC), little did his former boss, Mr. Sheku Kamara realize that Mr. Arthur Yaskey was envying his seat, until when he voluntarily surrendered himself to one of the several Commission of Enquiries set up by the NPRC to investigate officials that served under the APC government of ex-president Momoh. It was a shock to many officials of government to see Arthur Yaskey testifying against his boss, whom he had enjoyed very good working relationship with. But, he listened to no friends and relatives because his expected dividend was to occupy the seat of Managing Director of the National Insurance Company and conclude the life circle of Mr. Sheku Kamara and his family.
However, he was not able to succeed in this direction, but succeeded in getting him out of both the NIC building and the office of Managing Director which he had occupied since 1993 to this day. The failure of Arthur Yaskey to upgrade the company is another development which would be published for public consumption. If an APC government is serious to investigate corrupt government officials, including those working at parastatals, Arthur Yaskey would definitely not escape conviction in any sober court of law, but since the APC government is dragging its feet to clean some of these offices, Arthur Yaskey will continue to perpetuate immoral as well as unpatriotic deeds.
Interestingly, he has refused to limit his activities to the National Insurance Company and now focusing his attention to the body enacted by Parliament to regulate the insurance industry in the country. He last played the game of double dipper and succeeded when he became a member of the Board. During his period as a Board member he almost caused the failure of the Board to achieve its goal, thanks to the intervention of some other members including the Commissioner of SLICOM, Mr. Augustus Kanu who regarded the institution as his baby and wanted to see it forge ahead, despite several obstacles and challenges faced coupled with the unfriendly global and local economies.
As a result of his determination to see the collapse of SLICOM, Mr. Yaskey continues to infiltrate several quarters for re-nomination into the SLICOM Board. Those aufait with Mr. Yaskey’s diabolical and unpatriotic attitude are not surprised with his recent moves to bring down Augustus Kanu’s baby. The simple question asked is why allow him to go on with his moves.
