Countries Task Manager - West Africa: Research Into Use Programme

Natural Resources International Ltd - www.nrinternational.co.uk - is a successful and highly

respected independent UK-based project management company dedicated to improving the

wellbeing of the resource-poor communities in the developing world.

To enhance its management capability for the Research Into Use Programme West African

activities, NR International wishes to recruit a Countries Task Manager to be based in West

Africa.

The RIU programme is working to get new livelihood – improving development options into use

on a grand scale – so that they can benefit large numbers of poor people in Africa and Asia. A

major goal is to put into practice the tried and tested results of research on natural resources

funded by the UK’s Department of International Development (DFID) and others. The RIU

programme works closely with in-country partners to raise awareness of these research

options, stimulate demand for them and help people adopt, adapt and commercialise them

where possible.

The West Africa Task Manager is responsible for overseeing and co-ordinating the West African

countries strategy and programmes as well as day to day management of the activities.

Applications are welcome from individuals with a first degree in a natural resources discipline or

social sciences relevant to natural resources research, supplemented with an MSc

qualification.

The successful candidate will have:

• A proven track record of work in research & development in the NR sector

• Familiarity with the legacy research funded by DFID (RNRRS)

• Practical experience of implementing innovation systems approaches in the NR sector

• Project Management experience preferably obtained in West Africa

• Fluent English and French vocal skills

• Excellent written and oral communication skills evidenced by publication list

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to work to agreed time plans

• The ability to balance competing priorities and demands

• Excellent inter-personal skills and enjoy working as part of a team

• Willingness to travel and live in West Africa
