Recycled Politicians in Sierra Leone.....Where Lies Their Loyalty?
POLITICS

Ambassador Sheku Saccoh....APC to SLPP to APC Turn Coat Master
In Sierra Leone, the bad side of politics is evident in the behavioural pattern of the politicians, which is identical by every estimation, thoughts and imagination. They are interested in acquiring wealth at the detriment of the state. National development takes the bottom part of their agenda, and in most cases by the time they get to that point it’s already late and would embark on making lofty and unreasonable promises to the voting public.

Do these three letters ‘A.P.C’ ring a bell loud enough for you to hear? If everyone does, what then is wrong with Dr. Sama “Puawui” Banya and his cohort in the APC of the 70s to the 90s? Some may say it is old age. Wow!

Too Early to Catch the Bird....Andrew Keili's 2012 Presidential Race Preparation Begins

The talk about politics continues to dominate every discourse at the Stop Press Restaurant, drinking spots and other places. Some political parties have started mopping up and would appear that the focus is not centered on national development, but how to grab political power and be at the top of things. Although the road to the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections is far and thorny

Elections 2007 by the Numbers: A Case for SLPP Optimism - David Keili

I've been quite amused by interpretations of the final elections results, most of which have little bearing on the actual vote count. To save our collective intelligence from further torture by these numerically-challenged interpretations, I am presenting below tables derived from NEC numbers and some reasonable inferences that can be drawn from those numbers

Double Standards...Master of The Art SLPP Chairman John Benjamin
He is not a chameleon, a human being created out of the likeness of the image of God. Socrates would call him like any other human being a political creature, born free but everywhere he goes he is in chain. It is not known whether Socrates was referring to the physical chain or the conscience. Sometime, during his existence he would speak in parables like Jesus Christ talking to his congregation, admirers and disciples.

In Sierra Leone....Politicized Security Forces or Tribalized National Politics; Which is Which

Two serious historical blames have often been dished out by several of Sierra Leone’s political discussants against, Siaka Probyn Stevens and Sir Albert Margai; two prominent political leaders of Sierra Leone. While some have accused Siaka

The last 2007 Presidential and Parliamentary elections held in the country witnessed some very unpalatable scenes. Violence was very prominent in some parts of the city of Freetown and the provincial headquarter towns of Bo, Kenema and Kailahun. In the city of Freetown, cutlasses and other weapons were used to instill fear in

Mr. Secretary; I am personally grateful, and I am sure I speak also for the other members of my United Front delegation, and for all sections of Sierra Leone whom we represent, for the encouraging words with which you have welcomed us and opened this Conference on further constitutional advance for Sierra Leone. We are proud of the tribute you have paid us.

In welcoming the Sierra Leone delegates of this Conference I should like first of all wish to apologize for having had to ask your Premier to postpone the Conference for three weeks in view of the necessity of my paying a visit to Central Africa.  I realize very well that this postponement must have entailed a good deal of inconvenience and I am most grateful to the Premier for the understanding

PMDC....Steve Gaoja....Using Civility To Oust Charles Margai?
Amidst the acrimony generated by the grass root campaign groundswell of US based psychologist, Steve Gaojia, ahead of the leadership election of Peoples Movement for Democratic Change, (PMDC) in Sierra Leone, it is clear that there is desperation in the camp of the incumbent, Charles Margai

So it has come to this; the level of political violence in this our beloved Sierra Leone has degenerated to vandalism and attempted murder, rape and anti social behaviour directed at Sierra Leone people. To be fair, am blaming both APC and SLPP, the gangsters, thugs or individuals who committed these acts are seriously deranged, but there must have been something to trigger their directed anger

The safety and security of the people of this country must be the top most priority for this government at all times irrespective of which party is in power or one belongs to. The life of every Sierra Leonean is precious and cannot be bought with any amount of money. It is for that reason proactive and productive action and decision should be taken in the interest of the people and the security of the state. While, it is possible that some sets of people are bent on destabilizing the peaceful co-existence of the people, government on the other hand should be a position to stop it immediately.

The Promise of a Third-Party Presidency in Sierra Leone

It is hard to believe today, in just about two years following the 2007 elections; Sierra Leone seemed on the brink of a failed state. During the rainy season of 2007, Sierra Leoneans went to the polls; and for the first time since the demise of Albert Margai’s Sierra Leone People’s Party (S.L.P.P.) regime in 1967, Sierra Leoneans again witnessed the defeat of the incumbent party after the All People’s Congress (A.P.C.) took over 55% of the presidential votes, and also winning a majority in Parliament. In Freetown, activists from across the political spectrum of the A.P.C. machine and the people’s Movement for Democratic Change (P.M.D.C.),

Oh Happy Days... Solomon Berewa and Ex President Kabbah....When The Going Was Sweet
This writer is aware of the undoubted fact that Solomon Ekuma Berewa will be finding ways to get at him, either directly or indirectly for putting these series of articles together which he may not find palatable, but offending.  This is so because he has the heart of the biblical Ahab or King Pharaoh who strongly believes in the Mosaic Law. His character is predictable, unlike ex-president Ahmad Tejan Kabbah who has a shrewd and deceitful behaviour. That was why he survived a number of things and why Solomon Ekuma Berewa is reputed as the master schemer and planner of all things

Solomon Berewa...Congratulating Ernest Koroma....Now He Blames Kabbah For His Demise
The Sierra Leone Peoples Party convention concluded this past weekend in the Eastern Part of the country and the District Headquarter town of Kenema.  The convention ended with more enemies created than expected and cracks became explicitly visible for all to see. Contrary to the preaching of the SLPP, that it is a party with unity, love and care for its members and the people of this country, hence the slogan “One Country One People” what was demonstrated in Kenema prior to the election of 31 officials to serve in various positions within the party was enough to tell the whole world that the party is not yet ready to put the past behind and rebuild itself for future national contest and above all, cohesion.
