As Kailahun District Prepares for First Official Visit President Koroma To Launch Kenema/Pendembu Road Project On Friday

With just few days for the President of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to make his maiden visit to the Kailahun District, residents of the district have added to their usual busy schedule, activities to grace the visit of the President, in what could be interpreted to be a colourful and impressive celebration. Not only because of the visit, but to them it is a historical event marking the triumphant entry of the first gentleman of the State of Sierra Leone to that part of the country.
Chiefdom Authorities and natives of the district are busy putting modalities in place, such as painting, building huts and cleaning of the roads to ensure a large and successful turn out on Friday to welcome the President to the district. These activities are undertaking by all irrespective of their age and gender bias as men and women young and old including their children have all joined hands together to accomplish the task before the D-Day.
The Resident Minister Eastern Region, Hon. William J Smith while speaking to this reporter said that he was overwhelmed by the enthusiasm displayed by the people of the district for the President visit. He said the people are ready to demonstrate their appreciation to the President for the good plans he has in store to them, which he was going to made public with the blessing of the elders of the district. The Minister said that the APC is a party for all and called on all to put politics aside and join the development train. He disclosed that the President will formerly commission the Kenema- Pendembu Road Project which has been the major concern of the people in that area.
Minister Smith explained that the President will arrive on Thursday evening and be shown the proposed APC Party Office site along Blama Road and will visit the Party Office along Hangha Road in Kenema. The President, the Resident Minister went on to explain will later meet with Authorities of the Kenema City Council and the ceremony will be chaired by the Minister of Political Affairs. The President will honor a fund raising Party at night and on Friday performs the symbolic launching of the Kenema-Pendembu Road project before taking off for Kailahun.
