I have reproduced this essay, call it so because of no other description; published by an individual called Sorie Fofanah who works for the Global Times Newspaper. For those who may know him, his portrait would accompany this piece for ease of vision, but for the benefit of the masses who have never known him prior to this day, he is popularly known among a cross section of the curious minds as the PIMP MASTER who spent the better part of his adult life in the trade, for which he has not been able to maximize any significant benefit and had to trek back home to live a life that is begging for public attention.
Sorie Fofanah must be pitied by all, for the simple and undisputable fact that he is currently suffering from what criminal psychologist would refer to as cognitive dissonance. In the absence of this mental disagreement, mental compromise can suffice, but in the case of Fofanah he is seriously suffering from the mental impact, which if allowed to continue would lead to stress and subsequently physical setback. This could be as a result of his fake life style, which he is fighting to sustain, and upkeep with little or no resources at his disposal, incompatible with his demands.
With a weak Division Three result, majoring in Islamic studies from the Milton Margai College of Education that cannot put him on a solid platform to become a good and productive teacher in society, he fought his way through defying Civil Service procedures to become a Press Attache at the Sierra Leone’s High Commission in London, with expectations that he would better himself by making good use of the opportunity that was afforded to him politically by his godfather and tribesman; unfortunately, after six extravagant years all he ended up becoming, was one of London’s celebrated Pimp Master, which yielded him no benefit but to be dumped by one of the Eve’s of his life that has to this day left him disoriented and in a state of mental confusion. This is the individual that is talking about Public Relations Management, when he cannot even manage his own life and social wellbeing.
His Essay, which lacks the ingredient of an article, has clearly exposed his limitation that he is refusing to accept, which all formed part of the mental trouble he is facing. It is no pleasure for me to respond correspondingly, but the effort is done in his own interest, namely to instill in that conscious part of his that the gap or disparity between the two of us in whatever dimension, measurement or assessment is far beyond the reach of his imagination. Secondly as a result of the degree of professional and academic handicap, his level of comprehension and definition of blackmail cannot match the lexicon interpretation and is therefore misusing it to create an impression that he knows what he is writing about, when in reality it is not so. This is how he has been surviving bogusly in a society where the literacy level is not appreciable.
To qualify the theory of cognitive disagreement, Sorie Fofanah wrote “As far as I am concerned, African Minerals is one of the major employers in our country. Based on information I have accessed through Mr. Morseray Fadika, African Minerals will transform the fortunes of Sierra Leone before 2015”.The question is, when did he come to realize this far? Is it after the meeting he had with the Country Director or after a sober pondering about all that he had written, which in the estimation of the large crowd of people who witnessed the official declaration of the road construction between Ferengbeh to Lunsar on the 14th February, 2010 “that, it was sound and fury signifying nothing”
Rather than becoming complacent in the world of shadows (Courtesy John Locke), he should be thinking about ways to come out of his slumber and join the league of decent, hard working and patriotic sons and daughters of this land and embrace reality. As a friend and brother I can sacrifice few lecture hours to him either in Communication, Government/Politics, Public Relations and Management or Critical Thinking Skills and other relevant discipline in the School Curriculum to prepare him for the forthcoming WASSCE Examination. It would help him tremendously and put him on the correct wave length to compete with others in the arena that is, if the element of willingness is there as Maria Montessori had always emphasized for learning to take place.
I know where to hit him and how he normally responds to the impact, sometimes he does it without putting on his thinking cap because he lacks one, so his next approach is to run the street of Freetown unconsciously naked until he is stopped by a friend, who will explain to him that he was taking the wrong route.
What sounds interesting was the finger pointing of blackmailing and extortionist made against this author by Sorie Fofanah. If Professor Wyse were alive, he would have given a sad testimony about how this individual who has a log in his eyes, but pointing at the speck of others blackmailed him for a Civil Service Appointment. When the late Professor Wyse refused to bend the Civil Service rules to get him onboard, for a job he was not qualified and still not qualified for that is meant for Senior Information Officers, he became annoyed and went on the rampage, writing all nasty things about the Professor as he has done to Standard Times Executive editor for not printing his trash.
It was after the professor’s death, which Sorie Fofanah was happy about and celebrated that he saw the light that took him to a land, he did nothing substantial to benefit him and his followers. Clever as she may be, the Eve he went with to London refused to return home without any qualification like him, and today she is far better of than him who parades the streets of Freetown with a weak HTC Division Three result, working for Mike Baryoh.
Whatever our disagreement might be, readers should know that we are still friends and remained to be so. He is welcome to the Standard Times Office as he used do, but bearing in mind that he has his limit and MUST keep to it as the adage goes “liquid finds its level when tilted”. However, the least said about Sorie Fofanah the better as we are not only friends, but brothers as well and from now henceforth, it is believed he knows where the line crosses that does not mean the promise made to him in this piece about holding private classes to prepare him for the coming WASSCE exams would not be fulfilled.
As a friend and brother this contribution would go a long way in his life to enable a smooth transition to take place, and would wish to advise him to put aside pride as it goes before destruction.
