When Rogues Fall Apart.....Ex-President Kabbah Wrestles With Dr. Fadlu Deen Over Estate
Posted by on Jan 31, 2010, 12:04

Since he took his exit from the seat of governance he has not kept himself quiet, despite age is no more on his side and political power had already distanced itself from him, he however keeps playing his dirty games as usual assuming that past political glory would help him sail through. The man, a cross section of the public perceived to be a Statesman has unfortunately transformed himself of late to an undisputable source of information for local tabloid publication in the country.

As if ex-President Kabbah’s new engagement as a newspaper informant against the African Mineral Mining Company is not enough for him, he has engaged one of his buddies in an Estate tussle, which many people described as “pulling a fast one against his friend” Dr. Fadlu Deen.

Dr. Fadlu Deen is no stranger to ex-President Kabbah, both of them have benefited from each other and when ex-President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah was at the helm of politics he awarded him large chunk of government contracts, ranging from procurement of drugs to spare parts under different company names. Some of the contracts were never fulfilled by the contractors, but because of the proximity of their relationships and the involvement of one of ex-President Kabbah,s son with Dr. Fadlu Deen who was his business partner, the failure to perform did not raise any eye brows and money for non performance was paid.

It would appear that with the absence of political power and government contracts no more forthcoming the two friends are now watching each other with cross-eye, allegedly describing one another as wicked and vicious. While ex-President Kabbah is not happy with Dr. Fadlu Deen’s recent action regarding the Walpole Street building, his friend is of the opinion that his intention was to defraud him using criminality to take what legitimately belongs to him as he had failed to fulfill his own part of the bargain.

Explaining his encounter with Dr.Fadlu Deen to his relatives in Freetown and close friends, ex-President Kabbah was quoted to have said that he never knew how wicked Dr. Fadlu Deen was until now when the issue of the Walpole Street building came up, and that the understanding between them was to jointly purchase the building and share it according to the number of floors in it, but Dr. Deen has refused to do so claiming that the building  belongs to him, because he allegedly failed to pay his own part of the money. The matter, according to family sources was to be referred to the Administrator and Registrar General for examination and better resolution in the interest of the parties.

Observers say, the ex-President is paid with his own coin, considering his unforgiving character and how he has used this innate ability to destroy and undermine so many people when he was President of Sierra Leone and even now employing clandestine methods to destroy the aspiration of some people. The latest was the African Minerals Company, which according to political observers he is not happy about the current development of the project that will create employment for a considerable number of unemployed youths in the country roaming the streets of Freetown and its environs.

The ex-President, political analysts suggest now sees himself left out of the loop, when he was in office as President, consultations and arrangement were done with his consent and approval, but this time round that things are developing positively he feels that he has not been contacted and therefore using the media to tarnish the image of the company and those Sierra Leoneans at the frontline, which clearly exhibited his vicious and unpatriotic character.

Regarding the Walpole Street tussle between the two friends, the building conveyance is a subject of concern as to who is the rightful owner. Meanwhile, part of it has been rented out to a Lottery Company and how the proceeds would be shared has to be determined by the Office of Administrator and Registrar General. The unanswered question is what else does the ex-President wants to do with Estate and Wealth, considering his disposition, age and what he has already acquired during his life time.

But while this argument continues to occupy the centre stage of the discussion, Dr. Fadlu Deen is reportedly determined to teach him a lesson that would take him to his grave, as he was allegedly quoted to have said that as friends he did nothing for him or to protect him when he was in office. He recalled how he was beaten, humiliated and disgraced at the Queen Elizabeth 11 Quay by some disgruntled workers and also how he was mistreated at the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation and his friend did not come to his rescue, instead he ridiculed him until the matter died a natural death.
