The progress of football in Sierra Leone will continue to suffer devastating blow in the hands of its administrators as greed, self-centeredness and fraud has taken over patriotism and the desire to project the image of the country. A stinking Audit Report has indicted most of the SLFA officials as responsible for both past and present predicament of football in the country.

The Audit and Investigation exercise into the finances and administration of the Sierra Leone Football Association was conducted by renown firm named BUN TEJAN DOHERTY & CO. Chartered Accountants located in Sierra Leone. Cleverly, some members of the football association are crying down the findings and recommendations of the report, saying that it is bias, but have refused to point out where the Auditors are bias.  

The Secretary General of the Eastern Rangers F.C, Mr. Ismail Sesay after taking a glimpse of the report was reportedly unhappy and had to pen down a letter to the Parliamentary Sports Committee, inviting the committee to exercise its mandate to take a look at the report and investigate further. What appears disgusting in the report is the dept of corruption discovered by the Audit Firm that has transformed the association into a chronic corruption den, thus giving rise to poor performance in the management of football in the country.

From the report it is explicitly clear that most officials of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) cater for themselves and not the improvement of football in the country. The report pointed out the Millions of Leones and Dollars chopped by these officials since 2002 to present date, which could have been properly and effectively utilized to promote football in the country(Editor’s note—With effect from Monday next week we shall begin to serialize the report for the attention of the public)
