As Local Elections Draw Near....PMDC Flies High in Bo Town

In compliance with the campaign time table for political parties in Bo district, the PMDC officially launched their campaign on Sunday June 15th, 2008 in Bo. In their thousands; supporters dressed in party colours, in masks, with Milo jazz turned out at the coronation field to grace a ceremony that was peaceful and expressed a show of their strength.
Addressing a tumultuous crowd of supporters, the Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Andy Mansaray, Lecturer Njala University ,Bo Campus said, the purpose of gathering was to launch the local council election campaign and introduced the Party front runner for the Bo Mayorship, Bo district chairmanship and wards candidates.
After the presentation of Rev. Dr. Shodankeh B. E. B Johnson and other candidates to supporters, Mr. Mansaray ceremoniously declared the campaign opened with a call of the campaign slogan “ get it done” in the municipality and district. He said, the occasion is a test of their numerical strength in Bo which was underestimated by critics. He reminds audience that Bo is the birthplace of PMDC; therefore they most maintain their winning spirit. PMDC he continued has a platform of high profiled membership and people of substance both young and old. We are controlling the political pendulum in the country he maintained.

Mr. Andy Mansaray called on supporters and sympathizers to complement their call to prosperity. Adding that wining the city Mayorship and district Chairmanship is the outright goal they must achieve. He said if done, it is the foundation we are laying for 2012 election which we shall clinch by the grace of God. “The party is the youngest; God has blessed it from the onset”. He recalled their huge success in less than a year of existence, wherein they got representation of 10 seats in parliament, what a very big record he acclaimed.
In his campaign address, Rev. Dr. Shodankeh Johnson, PMDC Candidate for Bo City Mayor, called on the people of Bo to lend him their votes, for vision and development. He said he is purest to get it dine in Bo.

This astute Man of God said for Bo City to become sweat as it used to be; the masses should vote for PMDC councilors, chairman and Mayor. They are on course to promote a healthy community and to provide an affordable education. If he wins, he promised to provide school buses and pipe born water supply for the city. He assured that PMDC has come to break the barrier between the rich and the poor.
‘I am an action man; I want to bring hope to the city. Hope for the young, the women, children and aged’ he noted. He condemns parliamentarians who are misleading the populace with deceptive campaign rhetoric’s citing the current trend of hardship. He said it is unfortunate that they have failed their constituents instead of admitting, they chose to blame a government that is striving hard to develop the nation. The world is at economic recession he sounded.
The National Organizing Secretary; Tommy Kargbo told supporters that, Charles Francis Margai, National Leader of the party has a dream for Sierra Leone. He is concerned about national unity. Mr. Margai may wish to become president but not at all cost. He may die without being a president and be the happiest man if Sierra Leone is united and peaceful. He said PMDC upholds the ideology of positive change, a party not promoting tribalism and stood firm to eradicate all the isms. They do not condone violence they are tolerant and peaceful.
The party’s entourage from Freetown was lead by Ambassador at large, Dauda Tombo Bangura, Umarr Parang Tarawally and others.
Counting down to July 5, 2005, day by day, night by night the Bo contest remains very keen. A winner of the polls is far from being assumed as all political camps have wooded massive support from the public.
By all indications, an Independent observer said, though all the launching rallies in the township displayed individual party’s strength, the PMDC has mobilized the biggest crowd followed by the SLPP.
Dismissing such observation, The APC National Youth Leader, Katisco Sesay told this press that, mobilizing a big crowd to show numerical strength of a party in not enough to win elections. Voting and winning is the utmost goal of the APC.
When asked how serious is their alliance with the PMDC; he replied very strong, guarantee and adhesive. He entrenched no knife will wedge on the APC PMDC alliance.
Speaking on the recent campaign tempo in the whole country, he assured that APC will go on non violent campaigns and rallies but peaceful. He said their last campaign in Bo will signal how strong, courageous and massive the APC is in Bo. He entreated APC supporters to be law abiding.
