Bo District Development Association UK Chapter Donates To Bo Council

The newly transformed Bo District Development Association – UK Branch has donated a long standing pledge of US1000 dollar to the Bo City Council.Speaking to this Press, Samuel Haffner, and Chairman BODDA – said the pledge was made six months ago by then the association was known as Bo District Descendant Association.  According to him, the change of name was effected for the fact that most legitimate members of the association are not descendants of Bo but are partners in promoting the socio – economic stride of the community.

 

BODDA is well recognized in society for its numerous contributions towards empowering the community on sustainable human development, said a beneficiary. BODDA has involved in a number of developments in society. The association has donated cash to institutions over the years ranging from education grants, learning and teaching materials, award of scholarships to pupils and students and promoting talents.

 

Making the presentation of One Thousand Dollars in cash,  Samuel Haffner, Manager Radio Bo Kiss 104 and Chairman BODDA – Bo said to the deputy Mayor, Bo City Council that BODDA is geared towards recognizing excellence and building peace. He said, his organization will continue to mobilize resources in support of human resource development. He told the deputy mayor that his organization recently donated computers, teaching and learning materials to schools supporting the education sector.

 

Receiving the donation, Councilor Joe Pyne expressed gratitude to the donors for fulfilling their long time pledge. He said BODDA is recognized the invaluable contributions made in the district. He also thanked representatives of the Bo branch for their candid support towards development in the municipality. He stated that, BODDA is the second organization to dole money into the council’s education trust fund.

 

Councilor Pyne assured that council will utilize the money for its intended purpose and for any reason that the money is spent, will be accounted for publicly. He intimated that his council upholds the standard of accountability and transparency. He encouraged other indigenous bodies as well as Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora to emulate the brighter examples of BODDA. He attributed the donation as a boast to a very important scheme. He informed that his council has lined up sustainable education scheme for the municipality.
