Chinese Organise Seaside Walk for Beijing Olympics ...Along Lumley Beach In Sierra Leone

The Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Sierra Leone has organized a Seaside Walk for Beijing Olympics Saturday 10 May along Lumley Beach Freetown, demonstrating their love and approval for the hosting of this year’s Olympics in their country.  More than 100 Chinese businessmen including doctors, technicians and others in different sectors in Sierra Leone joined the walk waving red five-star Chinese National flags and five-circle Olympic flags.

The slogans of “Go Beijing”  “Go Motherland” Success of Beijing Olympics”  “One World One Dream” were clearly heard in the crowd and shown on the banners. H. E. Mr. Wenju Cheng, Ambassador of the Peoples Republic of China to the Republic of Sierra Leone joined the Chinese community in the walk.  “We gather today to celebrate the successful Beijing Olympic torch relay around the world and up to the Mt. Qomolangma,  Chinese people and government are confident to host successful Olympic games with Chinese characteristics” He stated before walking. 

 

 The Ambassador also requested the Chinese community in Sierra Leone to inject its ardent nationalism into hard working and good performance to improve friendship with Sierra Leonean sisters and brothers and help them in peace building and national reconstruction. The organizers said that the seaside walk was to show the strong nationalism and sincere support for the coming Beijing Olympic Games 2008 by the Chinese community in Sierra Leone, noting that recent distorted reports by some western media on Beijing Olympics and Tibet issue should not be swallowed hook, line and sinker.   “Chinese people in Sierra Leone want to show the deep love for their motherland and strong confidence in successful and unique Beijing Olympic Games” Echoed a Chinese businessman in Sierra Leone.

 

For more information about the Beijing Olympics and Chinese culture, the Sierra Leone-China Friendship Society has collaborated with the Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone to hold a one-week movie festival titled “Beijing Olympics and Chinese Culture” to commence on  the 15th May, 08 to be held at the   China House in Freetown.
