Shake Up In Sierra Leone’s Judiciary..... Magistrate Sam Margai Sent On Leave
Posted by on Feb 26, 2008, 00:57

What looks like a shake-up in the Judiciary of Sierra Leone has been referred to as a restructuring exercise by others for the effective distribution of justice in the country.

The assumption of office of Madam Umu Tejan Jalloh as acting Chief Justice has  witnessed some changes in the personnel, while those Magistrate and Judges who are due to proceed on leave have been asked to do so.

Magistrate Sam Margai is to proceed on leave, with his colleague Magistrate Shyllon to replace him at court number one. Magistrate Fanda from Makeni, according to judicial source has been transferred to Freetown and would be in charge of court number three and

Magistrate Emmanuella Harding and Justice Sesay to work as Magistrate and High Court Judge in Makeni.

Magistrate Kamanda fondly referred to as the “Man of the World” because of his knowledge and professional expertise has been transferred to court number four, while Magistrate Deen Tarawalie has been transferred from BO to work at court number two.

The transfers, or what some critics called shake-up has been welcome by most of the officers.
