Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW) Vacancy Announcement

Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW), a leading youth-led international development agency, currently has offices in Australia, India, Nepal, Tanzania, South Africa, Sierra Leone, Uganda, UK, USA, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. SPW anticipates significant expansion in its existing programmes as well as expansion to new countries over the next three years in line with the SPW Global Strategic Framework 2007-10.

 

Following the invitation of the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) in 2005, Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW) was awarded a contract by the Department for International Development (DfID) to implement a 2.5 year programme in Sierra Leone in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.  In 2007, after the recognized success of the pilot phase, DfID has agreed to fund the Youth Reproductive Health Programme over 5 years from October 2007 to September 2012.

 

The Strategic Programme Objectives are:

1.    To equip young people with the skills and knowledge to make and act upon informed decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health and to live positive and healthy lives.

2.  To equip young people with increased life-skills and leadership capabilities

3.  To enable schools and communities in Sierra Leone to mainstream an effective sexual reproductive health and HIV/AIDS intervention through government interventions and technical support from SPW Sierra Leone

 

 

Post: Country Director, SPW Sierra Leone:

SPW is looking for an ambitious, highly motivated individual, with relevant experience and an interest in creating meaningful opportunities for young people, to fill the post of Country Director.

 

Based in Freetown with regular travel to District Offices, the Country Director will take overall responsibility for:

  1. Developing Strategy and Providing Direction for SPW Sierra Leone
  2. Developing and Managing Relationships to Secure Investment and Sustainability of SPW Sierra Leone’s Programmes  
  3. Taking Overall Responsibility for Financial Management of SPW Sierra Leone
  4. Leading and Facilitating a Continual Learning and Improvement Process to Ensure Impact
  5. Ensure Positive Relationships and Communication with all Stakeholders and Partners
