Heifer International US-Based Non-Profit Organization:Job Vacancies in Sierra Leone

Heifer International, a US-based non-profit organization with a mission to end hunger & poverty, is hiring staff for the following positions to serve a new program in Sierra Leone:

 

Country Director

Duties: Develop & implement a strategic plan to reach program goals & objectives; develop & maintain collaborative partners, facilitate direct communication between field programs & HQ; monitor & evaluate programs; investigate new proposals for projects; manage the hiring & performance of direct-line field staff; organize acquisition and placement of livestock; prepare & manage program budget; & administer grants.  MS degree Agric, Natural Resources, Resource Dev, Rural Dev Admin, or related field, plus 10 yrs relevant exp. Min of 5 yrs rural dev exp in Africa & 6 yrs of mgmt exp req’d. Exp. with NGOs, participatory mgmt skills and knowledge of global sustainable development essential.

 

Finance and Admin Officer/Accountant

Duties: develop and manage finance and admin functions; institute and maintain internal financial controls; conduct overall budgeting, financial projections and reporting; manage payroll and benefits, labor law compliance; perform daily accounting functions including payables and receivables and petty cash. ACCA, CPA or MBA required plus 6 years post-graduate experience in Accounting and/or Finance.

 

Administrative Assistant/Secretary

Duties: overall running of the office; maintain equipments & supplies, & update inventory list of supplies; manage mail, fax, & email, & photocopy documents; answer phones; receive & direct visitors; provide secretarial support to Country Director & staff; coordinate timely remittances; manage special projects & events & perform other job-related duties. High school diploma plus 5 yrs in office assistance;

 

3 Project Officers- Background in Agronomy/Horticulture or Livestock/Veterinary Services or Sociology/Social Development

Duties: Manage and oversee implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects. Investigate new proposals for projects; manage the hiring & performance of direct-line field staff; supervise purchase and shipment of livestock to projects; create, prepare & manage project budget.  BS degree in Agriculture, Natural Resources, Resource Dev, Animal Production or Health/Vet sciences, Rural Dev, Social Development or related field, plus 3 yrs relevant exp. Min of 3 yrs rural development exp. in Africa. Exp. with NGO/CBO approach, participatory mgmt skills, knowledge of global sustainable development.

 

All positions require fluency (oral & written) in English & Krio. Starting salaries DOE, plus benefits.
